What's Happening

HOW TO WRITE YOUR LIFE

Kate Spicer - sharp-witted journalist, best-selling author of Lost Dog: A Love Story, ghostwriter and queen of the first person read - returns to the chateau to show you how to bring structure, humour and humility to using your own life experience in either memoir, essay or fictional form. Whether you have just fragments of an idea or a first draft, the daily workshops and one-on-one sessions will steer you through the challenge of writing with authenticity, colour and that spritz of strategic fictionalisation that will really enable you to tell the truth without upsetting friends, family, or enemies (too much)...

All bedrooms have a desk and there are other peaceful spaces to work in – the salon, the barn, the gardens, the studio

Sessions include

  • Daily morning writing sprints

  • Uncovering your best story with free association and intuition

  • Beating procrastination and blocks, exploring motivation

  • The importance of structure to both your story and your writing life

  • How to tell the truth without blowing up your life or anyone else’s.

  • Weaving humour through difficult and emotional subjects
