About the House and Gardens

Château de Sacy is an 18th-century walled manor house on the edge of a peaceful village north of Paris, with a hectare of lawns, an organic kitchen garden run on permaculture principles, orchard, courtyard, dovecote and woodland walk.

Nothing much has changed in over a hundred years. The idea is to keep it that way; ‘growth’ is not part of the plan but becoming more sustainable is. The kitchen garden and fruit trees provide delicious fare and the interiors reflect this too, being largely original but comfortable and functional with workable kitchens and enough hot water. Some have good phone signal, others not so good. Improvements are made in a traditional style using home grown timber where possible and carefully selected salvage. And if a fridge still works efficiently but is a little rusty on the outside edges, so be it. Repairing and recycling have always been favoured over discarding and replacing.

The house has single, double and multiple occupancy rooms, one with an en suite shower, all original in style, not mainstream.. There is a large sitting room, a French Billiards/dining room, a wondrous new dressing-up room and lovely outdoor spaces to relax, work, exercise and eat. The barn is an ideal place to practise yoga, hone your artistic skills, or learn to walk our practice tightrope. Wifi signal is limited to certain rooms and we encourage you to think of your time in this ancient, largely untouched place as a digital detox.

On our retreats, all your meals are provided, locally and sustainably sourced wherever possible Help yourself to a laid-out breakfast, our team will prepare lunch, and dinner is prepared in groups using the delicious recipes and ingredients provided.

The château, in Sacy le Petit, is five miles from the town of Pont Sainte-Maxence, where there are frequent trains to Paris Gare du Nord, 38-52 minutes away.
